This past summer we spent three days on San Juan Island (the largest and one of the several group of Islands collectively known as "the San Juan Islands"). We arranged to kayak one day and to cycle two other days. Brian Goodremont, the owner, worked with us to determine what types of tours would make sense for our group of five. One day we kayaked out into the sound - it was beautiful, quiet, and cold. We saw a bald eagle and learned about the history of the islands from our tour guide. During our cycling outings, we were given maps of the island and set out on different paths. Brian's maps were not detailed and we were a bit confused on direction. We eventually found our way. On one outing we got a flat tire and were forced to arrange for pick-up because the bicycle was not equipped with a flat tire set. That said, San Juan is a beautiful island with incredible natural scenery. While Brian has very good equipment and delightful staff, the prices were somewhat high. Yet you don't have a lot of choice as you are on a small island. If we were to do it again, we'd bring a flat tire set, and we'd allot more time for our cycling outings, even making a full day of the adventure so as to allow for ample time to meander, getting lost, etc.
