The former hunting lodge of Cardinal Passerini, friend of the Medici's, occupied by nazi's during WW2, lovingly restored and updated by the current family, this is a beautiful hotel/villa outside of Cortona in Tuscany (but actually a few hundreds meters into Umbria). HIGHLY recommend, Gabrielle, the chef, prepares wonderful food every night but Tuesday, so eat here at least one night. you can also engage in a cooking class using local fresh ingredients in a simple but amazing style. Lovely well manicured grounds with a pool for those hot italian days. Our room was the former bell tower. large, modern bath, and low ceilings with tiny windows that had a 3 sided view of the countryside. Employees are all very pleasant, helpful professional and speak English.
