We took a day trip to Glacier National Park and enjoyed a lovely boat ride around Lake McDonald aboard the historic DeSmet ferry. The tour guide (who was also a park ranger) was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate and taught us all about the Park and lake history. The beauty is truly astonishing. The ferry departs just outside the historic Lake McDonald Lodge, which is found along the 'Going-to-the-Sun" highway. After the ferry ride, it is a treat just to hang out in the Lodge -- there is a massive great room, as well as a cafe where you can grab a quick bite and a beer. (Glacier National Park was about 45 minutes from where we were staying in Whitefish, Montana -- the drive to the Park was gorgeous in and of itself!)
