Coney Island restaurants are famous in the Detroit area. The Island Coney is located on the island community of Grosse Ile, close to East River Road. They have the typical coney island and chili cheese fries that the locals love. We tried their Cod and loved it. I'm not one to order fish in the midwest, but theirs was freshly, lightly battered and was great. Definitely an island hangout, if you are visiting the island for a day trip you should check it out.
