Garden for the Environment (GFE) is a hub for all those who care about urban gardening in San Francisco. It is a place where people come from every neighborhood to gather and share the joys and challenges of gardening in this beautiful, foggy city of ours. I first found myself in the garden after signing up to take the three-month GetUp! Course (the Gardening and Composting Educator Training Program). The following spring, I spent my Saturdays volunteering for the Harvest Program, the gardens cohort of food producers. Saturdays in the garden quickly became my favorite way to spend a weekend in the city. I fell in love with the land and the (incredibly knowledgeable and generous) staff and all those who find their way into this beautiful one-acre patch in the Inner Sunset.
