We spent a delightful weekend in Cape May this summer, and booked a room at the historic Chalfonte Hotel. We stayed on the third floor of this wonderful old Victorian, in one of the hotel's larger rooms that comfortably fit four of us (two kids and two adults). (The Chalfonte has a truly perfect location, for travelers who want to be close to the beach & promenade, yet value quiet and privacy. The hotel was a short two block walk to the water and all of the action...). In addition to the location, we loved how informal yet how comfortable this 100+ year-old hotel was. While there was plenty of the 'old world' charm, we had working air conditioning and a fan (and a private bath with a modern Toto toilet). We enjoyed sitting outside on the rocking chairs, both in the morning and after dinner. Our young daughter enjoyed the 'toy room'. Most of all, the staff was warm and accommodating, which really allowed us all to feel at home.
