Barbara is thoughtful, patient and organized! She can work with you and your dog either privately or in a group setting (she holds six-week once-a-week training classes a few times a year). She helped us to understand just how much our wonderful yet not-so-obedient dog was 'ruling' the roost. We worked with Barbara to learn many techniques, including how to do a leadership walk, to heel, to 'come' (when called :-). She also advised us how to best equip our home setting to prevent the occasional escapes. We still have work to do, but thanks to Barbara, we have come a long ways. She is terrific!!

Barbara Beebe takes a practical behavior-based (rather than food-based) approach to dog-training, and helped us with our 4-year old Lab. She trained us how to make our dog pay more attention to us (leadership training), stop lunging at other dogs while walking, recall, sit-stay, and heel. Although these things may be considered "basic" with a puppy, Barbara was able to show us how to train our more mature dog and break our bad habits. Barbara can do in-home classes where she comes to your place and can observe the environment and how you work with your dog - and then helps you make changes to get consistent behavior from your dog. Barbara also has group lessons, but if you need intensive training, the one-on-one training is the way to go. Figure on 9-10 weeks of work, but we saw rapid progress even after the first session. Barbara provides a printed lesson plan for each week, so that you don't forget anything and can continue to practice. We've tried a few other trainers, and Barbara has been the best of the bunch. We really appreciate her pragmatic, non-dogmatic style (no pun intended).
