We learnt about this program by surfing the web for hiking tours in Switzerland. While this group offers many different trips, we decided to try the 8-day, 7-night guided hiking tour of the Bernese Oberland. This is the area of the magnificent Eiger and Jungfrau mountains! On our first night, we met in Wengen Switzerland with Troy Haines, the owner, and the guide he arranged for us, Matt Brown. We started with 2 nights in Wengen, then hiked to the far end of the Lauterbrunnen valley for 1 night at the charming mountain inn of Obersteinberg (this was our favorite part of the trip ~ imagine a mountain inn on top of the world filled with hikers and languages spanning eight or so European countries). We then hiked to Murren for 2 nights, followed by 2 more in Kandersteg. Our experience was fantastic and our American guide Matt was gracious and warm. A comment, of trade-off': that Matt was American allowed for easier communication but also prevented the full immersion we would likely have had with a local guide. The scenery and fresh air and Swiss mountains were simply stunning. If we were to do this again, however, we'd likely "self guide" so as to force greater immersion into the Swiss culture. My understanding is that Troy can put together 'self-guided' tours.
